Two members of parliament form reserved seats for women have taken oath at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Sunday, an official release said.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to the MPs-Sabiha Nahar Begum, nominated by Awami League and Khorshed Ara Haq, nominated by Jatiya Party.
Senior secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad M Ashraful Makbul moderated the oath taking ceremony.
Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad M Fazley Rabbi Mia and Chief Whip of the Opposition M Tazul Islam Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
Earlier on March 23, a total of 48 members of parliament who have been elected uncontested for reserved women seats of the 10th parliament have been sworn in.
But, Sabiha Nahar Begum and Korshed Ara Haq could not take oath as their nominations were cancelled for telephone bill default.
The candidatures of Sabiha Nahar and Khorshed Ara Haque were rejected on the grounds that they owed Tk 11,835 and Tk223, 488 respectively in outstanding bills to BTCL, the state-run telephone company. Earlier, the EC fixed April 3 for voting in the 50 reserved seats for women.
