Altaf’s third solo album Pashe Theko was launched at a programme on April 10 at the café Thirty3 located at Baily Road. The album is produced by Agniveena and has eight tracks, six of which are his own lyrics. The track Maula, a wonderful melodious song is by Jalaluddin Baul and the opening track of the album Balu Jhor is written by Altaf’s father, late Mosharraf Hossain Shahjahan. The music composition and arrangement of the album is done by Fuad Almuqtadir.
About his songs Altaf said: “My songs are about people and the realities of life. My work does not belong in any particular genre and I think when music is classified into genres, it is restricted.” When questioned about his success as a musician and the response to his previous albums, he said: “I am a musician, it is my passion, I do not practice and produce music for fame, I do it because I enjoy losing myself in music.” About the audio industry, the singer said: “The current scenario of the audio industry does not permit a struggling singer or musician to earn a living by producing music only. Very few can manage the feat of being a full time musician and earn a living through the same means. One can only practice and produce music as a hobby at present.”
It took two years for the aspiring singer to come up with this album. Altaf started training in classical music from the age of 5 with his older sister Sheta and later trained
under Benjamin Sarker. He is inspired by Bhuben Hazarika and met with him on several occasions.
