Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left Dhaka for Myanmar on Monday morning on a two-day visit to attend the 3rd Bimstec Summit.
A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and members of her entourage has taken off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8am.
The flight is scheduled to reach Naypyidaw International Airport at 10:15am (Myanmar time).
Myanmar Union Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Aye Myint and Bangladesh Ambassador to Myanmar Anup Kumar Chakma will receive the Prime Minister at the airport.
From the airport, she will be taken to Royal Naypyidaw Hotel, where she will be staying during her visit to Myanmar.
The summit of the seven-nation regional body of South Asia and South East Asia will be held at the Myanmar International Conference Centre in the Myanmar capital of Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister is leading a 32-member Bangladesh delegation at the summit.
On the sidelines of the summit, Sheikh Hasina will hold bilateral meetings with her counterparts of the BIMSTEC member countries, including India, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan, the sources said.
She will also meet Speaker of Myanmar Parliament Shwe Mann and Chairman of National League for Democracy Aung San Suu Kyi.
The Premier will join a press conference for all heads of state and government of the BIMSTEC nations. She will also attend a dinner to be hosted by Myanmar President Thein Sien.
Sheikh Hasina is expected to return home at 9:10pm on Tuesday.
Following the summit, the BIMSTEC Permanent Secretariat is expected to be functional in Dhaka with the first Secretary General from Sri Lanka. The government of Bangladesh has already allotted premises for the Secretariat.
