A hundred-year-old Buddhist Temple along with other archaeological finds was discovered in Tongibari of Nateshwar under Munshiganj.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor officially declared the news of newly discovered place at a press briefing yesterday near the site.
Earlier, another temple Raghurampur Budhdist Temple was discovered in the same districts.
Speaking on the occasion the minister said such discovery of historical sites is not only good news for the people of Munshiganj but also for the whole nation.
“This discovery undoubtedly will add value to the glorious history of Bangalees.
A nine-meter Buddha statue, octagonal structure and a number of archaeological valuables were discovered. The design on the brick of the temple is also very pleasant and eye-soothing.
Archaeology professor of Jahangirnagar University Dr Sufi Mustafizur Rahman led the discovery of the site.
Awami Legaue presidium member Nuh-Uh- Alam Lenin, Attorney General Mahbube Alam, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner M Saiful Hasan Badal and Additional Police Superintendent Zakir Hossain Majumder attended the press briefing.
