The students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology have blocked the Palashi intersection after one of the university's students was left injured in a road accident.
Anika Tasnim, a third year student of BUET's architecture department, was injured when a microbus collided with the rickshaw she was riding around 11am.
Following the incident, BUET students vandalised the microbus and started a demonstration in Palashi intersection.
In a retaliatory move, BUET authorities started constructing a traffic circle in the intersection so that vehicles can move properly.
Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said police were trying to bring the situation under control.
Anika has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with injuries to her waist, the OC said.
