President Abdul Hamid met Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and laid emphasis on resolving all pending issues with India on Sunday.
The desire expressed during a meeting at Bangabhaban in the afternoon comes in view of the land boundary agreement and sharing of Teesta waters.
According to a report run by state-run BSS, Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran made the courtesy call.
President Hamid hoped for expansion in friendship between India and Bangladesh since both sides were stretching areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.
Hamid thanked India for Bherama-Bahrampur power transmission line, the route through which Banglaedsh imports 550KV electricity from India.
Thanks were also placed for the Indo-Bangla joint venture Rampal power plant located in the Sundarbans. Hamid hoped the power plant will be effective.
The president also expressed Bangladesh’s interest in joining the sub-regional cooperation projects on hydropower involving Bhutan, Bangladesh, India and Nepal.
The Indian high commissioner said to have assured to clear all pending issues with Bangladesh and promised best efforts for strengthening ties.
