A young girl lost her eyesight after being caught up in an explosion, carried out by pro-hartal supporters, in Jurain’s Balumath area of the capital on Tuesday morning.
The injured was identified as Rahima Akter, 9, daughter of Sobhan Mia of the Balumath area and a class I student of Brac school in Jurain.
Sobhan Mia told the reporters Rahima received severe injuries when the bomb exploded while she was playing in area around 11:30am.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Hospital sources said splinters have severely damaged the cornea of Rahima’s right eye and she will not be able to see through the eye again. Sources said her left eye is also likely to become unusable.
