A court on Wednesday framed charges against two leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Mohammad Tashnim Allam and Mohammad Jashimuddin, in a sedition case.
Dhaka Metrpolitan Special Tribunal 1 Judge Jahrul Hoque passed the order and fixed October 28 to begin hearings.
Investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Mohammad Abu Mia filed a charge sheet against the Jamaat leaders on May 31.
Charges of attempting to hinder the war crimes trials, hampering the country’s relationship with foreign countries and trying to create national riots have been brought against them, sources said.
Of the accused, the High Court had given bail to Mohammad Jashimuddin while Mohammad Tashnim Allam was imprisoned.
The leaders were arrested on December 16 last year while Jamaat-Shibir members were holding a secret meeting in the capital’s Uttara sector-10 area, planning to cause unrest in the country.
Later, Sub-Inspector of West Uttara Police Station, Mohammad Foroz Allam filed a case against them in this connection.
