Seventy deputy secretaries were promoted to the post of joint secretary, who were reportedly left out when earlier on July 18, the government announced promotions for 345 deputy secretaries.
The public administration ministry on Tuesday issued an order that also announced they have been made officers on special duty (OSD).
The deputy secretaries from BCS batches of 1984, 85 and 86, had submitted applications to the ministry to review the July 18 decision and asked to be promoted to joint secretary.
The ministry and the superior selection board met several times to review their applications, and eventually concluded that the 72 deputy secretaries under consideration did qualify for promotion.
The order was issued after the prime minister gave her approval for the promotions. The two remaining applicants will be promoted when they rejoin the civil service after completion of lien and study leaves.
