Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home Tuesday morning after wrapping up her two-day official visit to Thailand to attend the Second Asia Pacific Water Summit (2APWS).
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and members of her entourage landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 10:40am, reports BSS.
Deputy leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, planning minister AK Khandakar, home minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, civil aviation and tourism minister Muhammad Faruq Khan, jute and textiles minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, railway minister Mujibul Haque, prime minister’s adviser HT Imam and chief whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Abdus Shahid were present at the airport to receive the premier.
Earlier, the flight left Chiang Mai International Airport for Dhaka at 10am (Thailand Standard Time).
Sam Sanee, minister attached to the Thai Prime Minister’s Office, and Kazi Imtiaz Hossain, Bangladesh ambassador to Thailand, saw the prime minister off at the airport.
The two-day high-level segment of the summit was held at Chiang Mai, one of the most culturally significant cities of Thailand, on May 20-21.
Sheikh Hasina addressed the opening session of the summit on Monday at Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
On the sidelines of the summit, she held bilateral talks with her Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra.
The Bangladesh premier met her South Korean counterpart Jung Hong-won, Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Vuk Jeremic.
Sheikh Hasina also visited Wiang Kum Kam historical site of Chiang Mai and joined a dinner hosted by the Thai prime minister.
