A fire broke out at Multiplan Centre, an electronics market on Elephant Road in the capital at about 10am today.
Ten units of fire fighters are working to douse the fire, duty officer of the fire service, Nilufa Yesmin said. The units were still working at the time of writing this report.
Traffic has been stopped on Elephant Road.
Russel Ahmed, who owns a computer hardware shop on the ninth floor of the building, said faulty wiring may have caused the fire.
"We have been demanding upgrades for a while," he said.
