Host a perfect tea party

Update : 16 Apr 2013, 02:38 PM

Afternoon teas are an excellent way to entertain elegantly. If you have a garden in your house then you can host it there. Even terraces or balconies are fine for hosting a tea party. Tea parties don't cost much but they can be elegant and formal too. There are a few easy steps you can follow when planning any event at your home. - Pick a theme - Choose a date - Send personalised invitations. While choosing your guests select a small group of people who will get along and complement each other's personality and interests. Between 6 and 8 guests is a good number for a tea party. - Decide on your menu - Decorate the table with fresh flowers - Keep the conversation flowing Decide on your theme. Is it going to be formal or casual? In case of a formal tea party, remember to take out your Chinaware, crystal and classy silver or pottery. If you decide to go ahead with a casual theme, then play with your imagination. Take out your bright colourful ceramic tea cups to add an element of fun and vibrancy too. Food for a tea party can be a combination of both sweet and salty items. It can range from biscuits, cupcakes, fruitcake or slices of tea cakes to simple cucumber sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, pakodas and the like. For non-vegetarians you can add chicken sandwich. Even though it’s a tea party, you should serve coffee for the coffee drinkers. Or in the summer you can also serve cold drinks, lemonades or fruit juice if the guests prefer.
