At least 33 passengers went missing as a bus plunged into the Pandab River at Goma Ferryghat in Bakerganj upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses said the Barisal town-bound bus from Faridpur union of the upazila fell into the river around 4:30pm when its brakes failed.
Seven of the passengers managed to swim ashore while 33 others remained missing till filing of this report around 5:30 pm.
On information, divers from Barisal Fire Service started for the spot to conduct the rescue operation.
