Coronavirus: 2 more test positive in Chittagong

So far, five people have died from the deadly disease in the district

Two more people were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection in Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITD) at Fouzdarhat, Chittagong on Friday night.

According to Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir, director general of health services directorate’s Chittagong division office, a total 91 samples were tested at BITD between Thursday night and Friday night and two of them tested positive, reports UNB.

Among them, one was a woman from the port city’s Halishahar area and the other was from Noakhali district, he added.

Till now, BITD has tested 1,216 samples and 56 people, including 34 in Chittagong district, tested positive.

Until Friday, five people including a six-year-old boy also died from Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in Chittagong.

Until Friday afternoon, Bangladesh recorded a total of 1,838 Covid-19 cases and deaths of 75 people. Also, 58 patients have recovered so far, according to health authorities.
