Muse Masters Shazed ul Hoq Aabir, Sayeede Tahera Ahmad, Samira Sadeque, S M Jarif, Sarwat Sameen and Mahmood Sadaat Ruhul took inspiration from Nada Reza's artworks and composed poetry that not only infuses Nada Reza's aspirations but also, incorporates in the verses, the contemporary issues in the society today. The aforementioned artists recited their poetry during the British Council Poetry Trail session at “the missing one.”
Muse Masters is a competition organised by the British Council, where participants from across Bangladesh entered with great enthusiasm. Six of the greatest entries were taken for a visit to Nada Reza's exhibition, and given the platform to compose poetry keeping the modern-day issues in mind.
All the performances were extremely intriguing. Shazed ul Hoq Aabir, one of the performers, recited his poetry about the typical yet severe cultural identity crisis faced by many young people in our generation; the dilemma of being stuck between two contradicting cultures, western and native. The performance was so powerful, it gathered all the people from around the arena, and convinced a few to put down their phones from taking “selfies” and join the rest of the spectators.
