Former Supreme Court justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik has sent a letter to the chief justice requesting him to accept judgements and order copies that he wrote after retiring from the job.
Justice Manik confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune that in his letter submitted on Sunday, he has requested Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha to order Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, presiding judge, to receive the copies of 15 judgements and 70 orders that he penned in retirement.
In a statement on the occasion of the first anniversary of his taking office as the country's 21st chief justice, Surendra Kumar Sinha said some judges make unusual delays in writing verdicts while others continue to write them long after they have retired from the service, which goes against the law and the constitution.
