Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Commissioner Arif Khan has resigned from his post on health ground.
Secretary of banking and financial institution division Dr M Aslam Alam confirmed the resignation of Khan and said he had submitted his letter of resignation on health ground on Wednesday last. The division accepted his resignation letter with effective from February 1.
As contacted Khan said: “I submitted letter of resignation to the banking and financial institution division as my health condition is not good. However, I have good relation with the commission.”
He resigned before the expiry of his present term scheduled to come an end after two years and four months.
Arif Khan joined BSEC in May 2011 after share-market debacle in late 2010. His first term expired in mid-2014. The tenure of his term was later extended up to four years in line with the BSECs new rules amended in 2013.
