Police have arrested a woman for her suspected involvement in the sensational murder of five people in the district's Sadar upazila.
The arrestee is Nazma Akhter, 35.
DB official Mamnur Rashid Mandal told the Dhaka Tribune: “A team of detectives picked Nazma up from Shariatpur district's Damuda area on Tuesday morning.”
Earlier, the police arrested one Perveez in the murder case. A Dhaka court on Monday placed him on a seven-day remand.
Police on Saturday night recovered the bodies of five members of a family in a house in the Baburail area of Narayanganj sadar upazila. The dead are Taslima, 35, her daughter Sumaiya, 7, son Shanto, 10, brother Morshedul Islam, 20, and sister-in-law Lamia, 20.
Murdered Taslima's husband Shafiqul Islam filed a case with Sadar police station on Sunday morning.
The case was shifted to the Detective Branch (DB) of Police on Sunday night.
Narayanganj Police Super Khandakar Mohiduddin has said progress in the investigation into the murder of five people is satisfactory.
