From now on prisoners will be allowed to use mobile phones to talk to their family members, Additional Inspector General of Prisons Col Fazlul Kabir has said.
He made the statement in a press conference at Bangladesh Jail headquarters on the occasion of jail week on Sunday.
"The jail authorities will record all phone calls of the inmates and then the conversations will be analysed," he added.
The AIG said none but the family members would be allowed to call on the prisoners' mobile phone.
"However, others can send messages to the inmates' numbers. Jail authorities will reach the SMS information to the prisoners," he said.
The police official also informed that 20 psychiatrists would be appointed to monitor the mental situation of the prisoners.
