Prince Amyn Aga Khan has inaugurated AK Development Network office in Dhaka ceremonially to scale up its operation in Bangladesh.
He came to Dhaka on Wednesday on a three-day visit.
AKDN has a plan to invest multimillion dollar in tourism and education sector, said sources.
It has a plan to set up a hotel under its prestigious chain hotel, Serena, and state-of-the-art Aga Khan Academy in Dhaka.
“The visit of prince will boost the activities of the AKDN and expedite the process in investment in the projects,” said a senior government official.
Meanwhile, a press release of the Foreign Ministry said, Prince Amyn Aga Khan, the younger brother of Prince Karim Aga Khan and his personal representative to Bangladesh, presented his credentials to Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the Foreign Ministry Thursday morning.
While accepting his credentials, the foreign minister welcomed the Prince Amyn to Bangladesh and felicitated him on his appointment.
The minister conveyed appreciation to Aga Khan for growing interest and involvement of Aga Khan Institutions in various sectors that are contributing to institutional development of Bangladesh.
Recalling the signing of the agreement of protocol between Bangladesh and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in September, 2013, the foreign minister added that he looked forward towards strengthened relations between the government and the AKDN, building on involvement of Aga Khan in Bangladesh since the sixties.
Prince Amyn expressed his personal gratitude to the government for the accommodation and support extended and said that AKDN looked forward to “increasing its presence” in Bangladesh.
