The Sector Commanders’ Forum (SCF), a pro-liberation platform, yesterday condemned the Pakistan’s interference in the domestic affairs of Bangladesh.
The forum asked Bangladesh government to reconsider its diplomatic relationship with Pakistan. It termed the Pakistani interference unacceptable.
The leaders of the forum also called upon people of the country to raise their voice against the negative propaganda of Pakistan.
They made the call yesterday at a press conference held at the National Press Club in the capital.
The SCF organised the press conference to protest BNP’s support for war criminals and Pakistan’s interference in the domestic affairs of Bangladesh.
Harun Habib, secretary general of the forum, read out the key note at the conference, while SCF Chairman MG (retd) KM Shafiullah, Vice-President Lt General (retd) M Harun-Ur-Rashid, former IGP M Nurul Alam were present, among others.
KM Shafiullah said from the very beginning of the trail of war criminals Pakistan mounted a propaganda campaign against it.
“Now it is time to decide whether Bangladesh government should maintain diplomatic relationship with them (Pakistan),” he added.
“They have to stop interfering and accept Pakistanis stranded in Bangladesh since the Liberation War,” said M Harun-Ur-Rashid.
“We do not mind if they follow their ideologies there but we can not accept their interference here in Bangladesh,” he added.
He said legal action should be taken against those who challenge Bangladesh.
Institutions that provide financial support to fundamentalism and extremism should be confiscated and the government should distribute their properties among the war victims, speakers at the press conference demanded.
Habibur Rahman Shawkat, legal affairs secretary of the forum, said the real face of the BNP had been exposed after it threw its weight behind war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.
Some organisations like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are trying Spread propaganda deliberately to create confusion, said Haru Habib in his written speech.
