The Supreme Court will soon issue the full verdict copies of the review pleas of war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid, Attorney General (AG) Mahbube Alam has said.
He made the statement while talking to the journalists at his office in Dhaka on Thursday.
He said: “As I have not yet got the copies of the full verdicts of the review pleas' rejection in my hand, I can not mention a specific time of the release of the verdicts but they will be issued soon.
“The court had told us yesterday [Wednesday] after the verdict that the short verdict copies of review pleas' rejection would not be necessary. We again asked the court today [Thursday] after the jail authorities asked us for written order.”
The attorney general said: “The court again told us that it would not be necessary to issue short verdict copies . So we can assume that the court will be issuing the full verdict copies soon.”
While talking about the execution procedure, he said: “Once the full verdict copies are released, they will be sent to the jail authorities either directly or through the Supreme Court registrar for the next action.”
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court upheld its previous verdicts on condemned war criminals Mujahid and Salauddin, rejecting their pleas for reviewing death penalty for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
