Oman Air will increase its flight frequency between Dhaka and Muscat from December 1, considering the potential growth in passengers on the route.
Abdulrahman Al Busaidy, chief operating officer of Oman Air came up with the disclosure at a press conference held at a city hotel yesterday.
Flight frequencies will be increased from December 1, 2015, with more flights on Monday and Wednesday.
“We are confident that Oman Air will be able to compete with other airlines operated from Dhaka as Bangladesh has huge population,” said Abdulrahman Al Busaidy.
He stated that a large number of Bangladeshi passengers frequently travelled to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman because of their professional purpose. Moreover, a lot of people visit Saudi Arabia for performing Omrah hajj every year.
Arriving at Muscat, passengers will get benefit from easy access to a wide range of outstanding destinations across the Middle East, East Africa and Europe via Oman Air’s expanding network. Oman air wants to tap those passengers for increasing its business, he added.
Replying in a question Busaidy said Oman government will ease the visa system for Bangladeshi travelers providing the opportunity to enjoy Oman’s renowned hospitality and rich culture.
He further said, “The new service builds on the powerful and long-standing cultural and economic links that have been established between Bangladesh and the Sultanate of Oman.”
Abdulrazaq Alraisi, chief commercial officer of Oman Air, Ahmed Yusuf Walid, president & CEO, Air Galaxy Ltd, (General Sales Agent in Bangladesh of Oman Air), Mahbubul Anam, managing director, Allied Aviation Bangladesh Ltd, and Khondaker Kabir, country manager of the airlines were present at the press conference.
Oman Air will serve customers on the new route using the award winning Airbus 330.
The new route has been in service since October 25 with four flights per week on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Founded in 1993, Oman Air operates a network of 46 destinations in 27 countries out of its main hub at Muscat.
The launch of the Dhaka service, marks the carrier’s ambitious program of growth, which will see the airline’s fleet strength increase from its current 40 aircraft to around 57 in 2018 and increasing to 70 aircraft by 2020.
The expanded fleet will enable Oman Air to offer customers a greater choice of destinations, increased frequencies on established routes and more convenient connections at Muscat International Airport. It will also offer unbeatable levels of comfort and amenity, building on Oman Air’s reputation for offering an outstanding passenger experience.
