The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Chauddagram OC Abu Foysal said: “The robber tried to break into the house of one Sekandar early Sunday.”
“Hearing hue and cry of Sekandar’s family, locals came to their rescue and chased the robber. At one stage, they caught the robber and beat him to death.”
The OC also said police went to the spot and sent the body to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
