The death toll of Bangladeshi pilgrims from the Mina stampede during a Hajj ritual has climbed to 67, according to the Hajj mission in Saudi Arabia.
Mohammad Ibrahim Bahar, president of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB), confirmed the death on Friday quoting the Hajj mission.
Moreover, 20 Hajis are now still hospitalized and seven of them are in critical condition.
However, HAAB boss could not tell how many Bangladeshi pilgrims went missing in the September 24 Hajj stampede.
According to the Saudi Health Ministry, at least 769 pilgrims were killed on September 24 in a stampede in Mina, outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, where some two million people gathered to perform hajj this year.
However, high echelon of Indian and Pakistani authorities confirmed that Saudi authorities provided more than 1,000 photographs of the dead to foreign diplomats from the hajj stampede.
Relatives, accompanying pilgrims and hajj agents of the missing pilgrims have been requested to contact Bangladesh Hajj Mission at Makkah (room no 107, phone- 00966-(0)125413980, [email protected]) with a view to helping identify the dead bodies.
