The official website of Dhaka University which was taken down by hackers on Thursday, is not yet restored.
Visiting the site (http://www.du.ac.bd/) at 10am Saturday, the website was displaying the notification “ Website under maintenance mode”.
On the other hand, the police are yet to make any arrests in this connection.
A group of hackers took down the website, protesting the 7.5% VAT imposition on private universities.

The hackers who identified themselves as “Cyber 71” wrote on the website: “Some golden sons of Dhaka University have made the Language Movement, the mass-uprising on '69 a success. But why the student of the university are maintaining silence when the education is being turned into a business in the name of VAT imposition.
“Who gave the beasts [the law enforcers] the rights to open fire on the students? The shame is not only attached to the students of private universities but to all.”
“Roar Bangladesh in order to protect the education sector. #NoVatOnEducation,” added the hackers.

Thousands of private university students have taken to the streets across the capital Thursday, demanding withdrawal of 7.5% VAT on their tuition fees.
Several hundred students of different private universities had been staging mass protests against the VAT imposition. But, the agitation has intensified Thursday after Wednesday's police attack on the demonstrating students of East West University.
