Youth held for posting PM's doctored photos

Police have detained a youth for superimposing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's images on obscene pictures and posting those on different social media platforms.

The detainee is Sohag Bhuiya, 20, son of Anis Bhuiya, of Kadirabad village under Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal.

Shawkat Anwar, Kazirhat police station OC, said: “Locals detained Sohag for posting doctored photographs of the PM on different social media platforms, including Facebook, at different times.

“Being informed, the police picked him up on Friday afternoon. In primary interrogation, the accused admitted his offence”

Moreover, the locals noticed a manipulated image on his personal Facebook account, added the OC. "The youth has no political affiliation. However, further investigation is underway."

The police would produce him before a district court on Saturday after filing a case under Information and Communication Technology Act, added the OC.
