Jaago Foundation founder Korvi Rakshand has been selected among 2015 Asia 21 Young Leader by the US-based Asia Society.
The organisation confirmed that the selection was based on the candidates’ proven service and abilities.
Korvi, along with 32 leaders from 22 countries, are youth leaders for the class of 2015, and represent the Asian private, public and non-profit sectors.
Jaago, a Bangladeshi civil organisation, caters to the educational needs of 1,800 underprivileged children across Bangladesh through 13 free schools. It is a pioneer of online schooling and is the biggest youth platform in Bangladesh with over 17,000 registered volunteers.
Asia 21 Young Leaders, presently in its 10th year, have more than 800 young leaders across 30 nations. The Asia Society's primary focus is a thriving Asia through its powerful network of Asia 21 alumni working around the clock for a more progressive tomorrow.
Asia Society aims to help empower these under-40 young leaders to take up greater initiatives and surpass challenges in their respective fields in Asia.
Acknowledged for their commendable work in development, Bangladeshi nationals Tamara Hasan Abed, Ejaj Ahmed, Nazim Farhan Chowdhury, Shabanaz Rashid Diya and a few others are members of the prestigious Asia 21 alumni.
The 2015 class and Asia 21 alumni will gather at a special 10th anniversary Asia 21 Summit in Hong Kong, on December 1-4, 2015.
The summit will celebrate the achievements made in this decade, explore innovative ways to leverage the Asia 21 network for greater impact, and form special Asia 21 task forces to address critical issues facing the region.
