The long enduring anticipation of the rock-enthusiasts for a studio album from Artcell finally ends after the official announcement that the audience will be able to listen to their latest songs within a couple of weeks.
Partnering with the telecommunications service provider Grameenphone, Artcell will digitally release a self-titled album labelled under G-Series in the first week of July after a hiatus of nearly a decade. Recently, a programme was held at the Grameenphone corporate office in Bashundhara where the band’s Lincoln and Ershad signed a contract with the officials from Grameenphone and G-Series. The physical album will be available in market followed by the digital release.
The first studio album in nine years holds ten of the original tracks and a very familiar compilation to the band’s previous works.
Though the band’s bassist Cezanne and drummer Shazu are still staying abroad but they managed to put their contributions in the album while Ershad and Lincoln carried the rest of the album responsibilities.
With two studio albums “Onno Shomoy” in 2002 and “Oniket Prantor” in 2006, a number of singles contributed in different compilation albums and numerous live shows. With that, Artcell dominated the country’s band music scenario for almost a decade. However, from 2010, the band’s activity came to a halt. The members seemed to have gotten involved with personal clashes and rumours were present that they declared an end to all the activities of Artcell.
However, the band’s guitarist Ershad reasoned that the core purpose of making it a self-titled album is to defy the swirling speculation of the band spiltting.
