Bangladesh Cricket Board has served a show-cause letter to Tigers ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza for writing a column in a daily Bengali newspaper during the solitary Test against India.
BCB sources, seeking anonymity, told the Dhaka Tribune that the show-cause letter was served to Mashrafe on Sunday.
When contacted over the issue, BCB's Chief Executive Officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury refused to make a comment.
“This is our internal matter and we are not willing to make any comment over the issue,” said Nizamuddin.
BCB earlier, through an internal notice, reminded all its contracted cricketers and staff to follow the media protocol strictly.
In the notice circulated on June 7, Nizamuddin Chowdhury asked all members to seek permission from the board’s media department before making any comment to the press.
The cricketers were also asked to refrain from posting any messages in social media that might harm the image of the BCB.
And, despite the alert from the board, Mashrafe wrote a column in Prothom Alo, published on June 11, without informing the BCB.
In the column, Mashrafe expressed his concerns over the visitors' brisk run rate and informed that the Tigers were not able to cash in on the half chances that were on offer.
Recently, youngster Sabbir Rahman also found himself in trouble and was handed a show-cause letter after the all-rounder took part in a celebrity cricket tournament.
