Abdullahhil Amaan Azmi, son of the convicted war criminal Ghulam Azam, in a controversial facebook post refuted the number of members of Indian Army, who took part in the 1971 Liberation War as the allied force.
In a Facebook post on May 28, journalist Anjan Roy talked about establishing a monument in memory of the sacrifice of lives of 4,000 Indian soldiers in the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Anjan also mentioned of the 1,000 more Indian soldiers who were wounded in the war, besides India's contribution of providing shelter to 10 million refugees.
In reaction to Anjan's post, Azmi called him “an Indian agent” (Bharater Dalal) and questioned the authenticity about estimated number of the Indian soldiers.
Azmi said now from where he [Anjan] got the number of Indian army who sacrificed their lives in the war.
Citing the established estimate of the 3 million killing during the Liberation War as an imaginary figure, Azmi asked whether the number of Indian soldiers who martyred in the war were also something like that he [Anjan] want make the new generation believe?
In the war, the Jamaat-e-lslami allegedly collaborated with the Pakistan occupation forces and Azmi's father was chief of the party then.
Many of the party leaders have been convicted for the atrocity and genocide among other crimes against humanity in 1971 war.
Azmi even wrote the Indian soldiers flee the battlefield.
Anjan Roy, came up with a reply to the post on his wall on Saturday, again saying that now he felt he was in the right track as his father fought the liberation war, whereas the name of Azmi's father is Ghulam Azam, who was condemned with 90 years of jail for his crimes in the time of Liberation War.
