Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque has said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh's success in agricultural production is now globally recognized.

Bangladesh has emerged as one of the top ten countries in various crop productions. According to a recent report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Bangladesh is now a leading producer of 22 agricultural products, including rice, potato, and mango. However, we still lag behind in agricultural processing and export despite immense potential.

Razzaq made these remarks on Tuesday at the inauguration ceremony of the Netherlands Agricultural Trade Mission in Bangladesh, organized at the Dutch Embassy in Gulshan, Dhaka.

Highlighting the investment plan in the agriculture sector, the minister emphasized the priority given to four key sectors. He stated: "Agricultural processing, cold storage installation and post-harvest management, climate smart agriculture, and irrigation management have been identified as priority sectors. These sectors require technical cooperation and investment from the Netherlands."

Expanding on the infrastructure and government facilities available for investment in Bangladesh, the minister addressed the Agri Trade Mission of the Netherlands, said:  "These sectors hold great promise for agriculture investment in Bangladesh and offer profitable opportunities. The country provides a favorable investment environment, so we encourage you to come forward and invest."

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Lokman Hossain Miah, President of Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Nasser Ejaz Vijay, Chargé d'Affaires of the Netherlands Embassy Thijs Woudstra, Head of Netherlands Agri Trade Mission Wis van Leeuwen, Special Envoy of the Netherlands Ministry of Agriculture Frederik Vossenaar, and other dignitaries delivered speeches during the event.

This mission aims to enhance collaboration in the agriculture and dairy sectors between Bangladesh and the Netherlands. During this three-day mission, nine companies or institutions from the Netherlands will engage with Bangladeshi businessmen, entrepreneurs, experts, and individuals involved in agriculture. The objective is to identify potential investment opportunities and areas for cooperation.
