'It won't reopen' say owners, as govt returns keys to Holey Artisan

After the terrorist attack, Holey Artisan Bakery was under DMP supervision for the investigation.

DMP's Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday afternoon.

He said: “According to the court's order we handed the premises back to its rightful owners today (Sunday).”

Sadat Mehdi, one of the owners of Holey Artisan Bakery, said: “The land has been handed back, but Holey Artisan Bakery will not be restored.

“We will use use the house as a residence,” he added.

The terrorist attack left 23 people dead, including two police and 17 foreigners. The five terrorists who carried out the attack were killed during the rescue operation.

The premises were under strict supervision. Only law enforcement agencies could access the premise for investigation. Foreign dignitaries could visit for inspection with permission from the police.
