Update : 04 Nov 2016, 05:46 PM
The former headmaster of Nasirnagar Asutosh High School, Mohendro Chondro Das, was among those left terrified by the violence. He spoke to the Dhaka Tribune on Friday morning, as a human chain was formed to protest the attacks. “We cannot sleep at night. There is no point in talking here," he said. "We will all be killed the next time.” Adesh Chondro Das is president of the Nasirnagar unit of Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad, which jointly organised Friday's protest with Puja Udjapan Parishad. “Since yesterday, we were being pressurised not to form the human chain," Adesh said. "We are in fear. There were more attacks today (and) we need the help of the authorities to continue with the programme.” Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel withdrew from the upazila On Thursday night but were seen patrolling in Nasirnagar again on Friday morning. UNO Chowdhury Md Moazzem Hossain had confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune about the withdrawal. Earlier in the day, miscreants set fire to 11 more houses in Nasirnagar amid the ongoing tension following the October 30 attacks, when Over 100 people were injured when a mob of around 3,000 local Muslims armed with weapons demolished at least 10 temples and vandalised hundreds of houses of the Hindu community at Nasirnagar. The violence was reportedly in response to a Facebook post that satirised the Masjid al-Haram, a holy site for Muslims, which appeared on the timeline of local Hindu youth, Rasraj Das. The incident occurred even though Rasraj had already apologised to Muslims the day before, saying that his account had been hacked.
