Two electrocuted while digging grave in Brahmanbaria

Two people were killed and at least five others injured after being electrocuted while digging a grave in Neyamatpur village under Mulgram Union in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 11:30am at the local graveyard when villagers, including several youths, were digging a grave for the burial of the wife of the late Moti Sarkar.

According to locals, the accident took place when a stainless steel (SS) sheet used to cover the grave came into contact with a live overhead electric wire. The sudden electric shock left two people dead on the spot and injured several others.

The deceased were identified as Nuru Mia ,65, son of Jamir Hossain, and Sanaullah (18), son of Marju Mia, both residents of Neyamatpur village.

A duty doctor at Kasba Upazila Health Complex confirmed that one victim was brought dead to the hospital.

Kasba Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nurul Amin said police reached the spot after receiving information. “Two people died in the incident and at least five others were injured. The matter is under investigation, and necessary legal steps are being taken,” he said.
