Update : 05 Oct 2026, 08:31 PM

Government offices will remain closed from October 20 to 22 for Durga Puja, creating a five-day break when the holidays are combined with the October 23-24 weekend.

The decision was announced on Monday.

According to the notice, the dates of the general and executive-order holidays announced for Durga Puja have been rescheduled. Government offices will remain open on Saturday, October 17, and closed on October 20, 21 and 22.

October 23 and 24 are Friday and Saturday, respectively, meaning government employees will get a continuous five-day break from October 20 to 24.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to declare November 7 a public holiday every year to mark National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

The day will also be included as a “Category A” day in the Cabinet Division’s circular on the observance of national and international days.
