Police recovered the body of a Sub-Inspector, who was posted at Bhashantek Police Station, from his residence in the capital’s Mirpur area on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as KM Mahmudul Hasan, 42, a resident of Mirpur’s Section 13 who hailed from Gaibandha.
Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam confirmed the matter, saying police recovered the body from Alok Hospital in Mirpur after receiving the information.
Quoting his family members, the OC said Hasan allegedly hanged himself at his home while no one else was present. Family members later found him hanging and rushed him to Alok Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for an autopsy after completing the necessary legal procedures. The autopsy was completed on Monday.
Police initially suspect that Hasan died by suicide, but the reason behind the incident remains unknown. An investigation is underway.
