Miscreants attacked the office of the Khulna-based daily newspaper "Dainik Probaha" and assaulted a staff member early Monday.
The attack occurred around 2:00 AM.
According to locals, the newspaper's Chief Pasterman, Faisal Ahmed, was working when he noticed a major commotion in the slum located behind the office building. When he attempted to observe the situation through a gap in the wall, several individuals entered the office and beat him before fleeing the scene.
Md. Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station, said that police visited the scene on Monday morning following the report.
The OC mentioned that during initial inquiries, some residents claimed they entered the building out of fear that bricks were falling from the office structure into the slum.
The OC added that the police have spoken with the newspaper management and will take legal action once a formal complaint is filed.
