Update : 27 Jun 2026, 08:53 PM

The Police Headquarters on Saturday dismissed as baseless a report circulating on social media claiming that the bodies of seven leaders and activists of the Awami League and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) had been found floating in the Turag River.

In a press release issued on Saturday evening, police said the report was false and was being circulated to create confusion among the public, adding that no such incident had been reported.

Police urged people not to be misled by the misinformation.

The press release said, "A vested group is attempting to undermine the morale of law enforcement agencies by spreading such misinformation. Police are actively taking legal action against those responsible."

It added that police remain committed to taking appropriate legal action against anyone involved in spreading such propaganda.
