The fire at a tyre-to-oil processing factory in Pubaile, Gazipur following a boiler explosion was brought under control on Saturday afternoon. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire broke out at around 2:10 pm at the Green Oil factory in the College Gate (Maijgaon) area of Ward No 41 under Pubaile Police Station.
Fire Service officials said three units were dispatched to the scene after being informed and brought the blaze under control after around one and a half hours of effort.
Tongi Fire Service officer Shahin Alam said the fire originated following a boiler explosion around 2:00 pm. Workers inside the factory evacuated immediately in panic. The factory authorities later alerted the Fire Service, after which the units from Tongi Fire Service worked to contain the fire, bringing it under control by around 4:00 pm.
He added that the extent of the damage has yet to be determined. However, no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
