Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday stressed adopting innovative and sustainable production methods for survival in competitive global market, saying consumers are now far more aware than before.
“Consumers are now far more aware than before. They consider not only the quality of products but also the ethics of production, social responsibility, and environmental impact. Therefore, adopting innovative and sustainable production methods is essential for survival in the competitive international marketplace,” he said in a message on the eve of the World Accreditation Day 2026.
About the day, the Prime Minister said, “The World Accreditation Day reminds us every year of the importance of safety, quality, and trust in the products and services we use in our daily lives.”
The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) observe June 9 each year as World Accreditation Day, he said, adding, this year's theme, ‘Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation,’ is highly significant and timely.
“In today's world, innovation, trust, and sustainable development are closely interconnected and serve as key foundations of economic progress. In this context, the initiative of the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB), under the Ministry of Industries, to observe World Accreditation Day 2026 is both timely and commendable,” said Tarique Rahman.
Noting that accreditation is an internationally recognized quality assurance mechanism that verifies the quality of products and services based on established standards, he said accreditation is not merely a certificate or recognition; it is a powerful tool to sustain the country's industrial sector in global competition.
“Through it (accreditation), the BAB is making Bangladeshi products and services more acceptable and trustworthy in the global market,” he said, adding, the BAB has so far granted accreditation certificates to 168 government, private, and multinational institutions in the country.
Currently, these activities are being carried out under five sector-based schemes in accordance with international standards, said the premier.
“I hope that World Accreditation Day 2026 will further strengthen the country's quality infrastructure and accelerate the journey toward innovation and sustainable development,” the Prime Minister said.
He wished every success for the observance of World Accreditation Day 2026.
