A total of 441 recruits of the A-2026 batch formally joined the Bangladesh Navy after successfully completing their boot camp training at the Sher-e-Bangla Parade Ground in Patuakhali on Thursday. The colorful passing-out parade marked the conclusion of their rigorous training and their formal induction into the naval force, said an ISPR press release.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan attended the ceremony as chief guest, where he inspected the parade and took the salute. He later distributed awards among the best-performing recruits.
Md Shahriar Tutul earned the prestigious “Navy Chief Medal” as the Best All-Round Sailor for achieving excellence in both professional and academic performance. Md Samiul Islam Shakil secured second place and received the “Comkhul Medal,” while Md Kader Mia won the “Sher-e-Bangla Medal” for third place. Among female recruits, Mosammat Maria Akter received the “Pritilata Waddedar Medal” as the Best Female Sailor.
Addressing the parade, the Navy Chief paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War, including Bir Sreshtho Ruhul Amin and Lt Commander Moazzem Hossain. He highlighted the Navy’s ongoing modernization efforts, including the addition of helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, hydrographic survey vessels, and anti-drone systems.
He also praised naval personnel for supporting civil administration, maintaining law and order, and performing duties during the 13th national parliamentary election in remote coastal regions.
Senior officers of the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) of Naval Headquarters, high-ranking military and civil officials, distinguished persons from the Patuakhali, Barisal, and Khulna regions, and the guardians of the newly inducted sailors were present at the parade ceremony.
