The Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Dakhil, and SSC (Vocational) examinations for 2026 are set to begin across the country on Tuesday.

Unlike previous years, when coaching centres were instructed to remain closed during the examination period to prevent question paper leaks, no such directive has been issued this year.

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at a press briefing held on Monday at the Ministry of Education conference room in the Secretariat. The briefing was organized ahead of the SSC and equivalent examinations.

The education minister stated, “Coaching centres are not legal institutions and are not registered by the government. We do not recognize them. I also do not have any list of coaching centres. I do not know where coaching is being conducted.”

Responding to a question about how these institutions operate commercially, pay taxes, and yet are not considered legal, he said, “Trade licenses are issued by city corporations. They are not under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education.”

He further said that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure students can take their examinations in a fair and smooth environment. Instructions have been issued to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the country during the examination period.

“We want to ensure that examination halls are student-friendly. All necessary measures have been taken. We aim to reduce exam anxiety among students,” the minister added.
