Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani has said that the country’s fuel reserves are adequate, with efforts underway to further strengthen stock levels.
He made the remarks at a briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday, following a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.
Gani said Bangladesh typically maintains fuel reserves for around 15 days, but current stock levels are sufficient for nearly a month.
He added that the Prime Minister reviewed the situation by assessing the government’s overall preparedness, including measures taken by various ministries.
Noting public concern, he said some people were purchasing fuel out of panic, warning that excessive buying could lead to wastage. However, he expressed hope that the situation would stabilize within a few days.
He further said the government plans to expand fuel reserves in the future in line with its broader strategy.
