Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to formally inaugurate the Farmer Card on Pohela Boishakh.
The decision came from a meeting held at the Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat at 11:00 a.m on Sunday with Prime Minister in the chair.
The initiative aims to gradually launch a pre-pilot program of the Farmer Card for 2.20 crore farmers across the country.
Officials also highlighted that the program is expected to create one crore new employment opportunities over the next 18 months.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Aminur Rashid, State Minister Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Prime Minister’s Economic and Planning Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser on Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad, and State Minister for Local Government Mir Shah Alam.
