The "Night Bazaar 2026", organized by the Gulshan Society, a welfare organisation of the Gulshan area, officially commenced on Thursday night at Shahid Dr Fazle Rabbi Park in the capital.
The three-day event, designed to foster community engagement and support local commerce, will continue until Saturday dawn, said a press release.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan and Gulshan Society President Omar Sadat formally inaugurated the temporary marketplace by cutting a ribbon on Thursday night in the presence of distinguished guests and local residents.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest, DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan lauded the Gulshan Society for the initiative, noting that such events are vital for building stronger community relationships.
He expressed his desire to see similar initiatives organised in other neighborhood societies across the city to foster social bonds.
The Administrator further urged other organizations to follow this model and pledged the City Corporation's full support for such community-building endeavors.
Presiding over the function, Gulshan Society President Omar Sadat said the bazaar was organized as part of an effort to solve various problems of the society, alongside bringing everyone together.
He emphasized that the primary objective of the Night Bazaar is to reduce social distance among neighbors and cultivate a sense of unity within the community through collective participation.
Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) PLC is participating as the title sponsor of this year's event. Referring to the bank's involvement, MTB Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman noted that they became partners in the initiative as part of their ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility.
The bazaar features a total of 54 stalls representing various institutions, offering a wide range of local brands, diverse food items, and lifestyle products.
The market remains open to residents and visitors daily from 7pm until 3am.
