236 students get Tk18.93 lakh as scholarships in Sylhet

Divisional Commissioner urges youth to uphold values, build skilled and patriotic leadership for a developed Bangladesh

Sylhet Zila Parishad distributed scholarships amounting to Tk18 lakh 93 thousand among 236 students at a ceremony held at the Zila Parishad hall room on Thursday.

The program was presided over by the District Council Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Ashrafur Rahman, while Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Khan Md Reza-un-Nabi attended as the chief guest.

Addressing the event, Reza-un-Nabi said there is no alternative to building a new Bangladesh through the development of ethical and moral manpower. 

He stressed the need for honest, skilled and patriotic leadership to transform the country and called for united efforts to move Bangladesh forward.

The divisional commissioner urged the youth to uphold human values, abandon discrimination and remain vigilant against all forms of conspiracy. 

He also expressed hope that the scholarship recipients would grow into responsible, skilled and patriotic citizens of the country.

The program was moderated by Zila Parishad Executive Officer Anupama Das. 

Special guests included Sylhet Press Club President Muktabis-un-Noor, former principal of Sylhet Government Women's College Professor Md Hayatul Islam Akhanjee, and Sylhet District Administrator, Md Sarwoer Alam.

Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Sondip Kumar Singh delivered the welcome address, while Farzana Khan Masumaiya and Rahmat Ali spoke at the event on behalf of the scholarship recipients.
