Law Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul on Saturday said that three major reforms are currently being pursued by the Ministry of Law.
Asif made the comment at a legal aid consultation meeting organized by the National Legal Aid Organization on Bailey Road in the capital, reports Bangla Tribune.
Highlighting the three reform initiatives, the adviser said: “We are working to amend the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) to ensure faster and more affordable case resolution. To guarantee justice, we are focusing on digitization, this includes increasing the number of judges and enhancing their training with advanced capabilities.
"Additionally, to free people from the curse of excessive litigation, we are planning to amend the laws governing legal aid organizations. Once implemented, this is expected to reduce the number of cases filed annually by 40%.”
Asif also noted: “We are working to amend the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) and hope to have it passed within the next month.”
The law adviser added that several measures have already been taken to ensure justice, including training for judges.
“Small and compoundable cases will be made subject to mandatory settlement through legal aid organizations,” he said.
