Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the price of gold in the local market has increased once again.

On Thursday, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced the revised gold price list through a press release.

According to the notice, the adjustment was made in response to the rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.

The new rates will come into effect from Friday.

As per the updated pricing, the price of 22-carat gold has been raised by Tk2,415 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new rate at Tk172,336.

Additionally, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk164,497 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now be sold at Tk140,994 per bhori.

Gold crafted using the traditional method will be priced at Tk116,640 per bhori.

However, there has been no change in the price of silver.

It will continue to be sold at the previously fixed rates—Tk2,811 per bhori for 22-carat, Tk2,718 for 21-carat, Tk2,333 for 18-carat and Tk1,750 per bhori for silver made using traditional methods.

Notably, gold prices in the domestic market have been fluctuating in recent months due to rising global prices and variations in the supply and demand of pure gold locally.

Market stakeholders consider this latest increase as a natural outcome of heightened demand in the lead-up to Eid.
