In the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2025–26, the cost of land registration has been reduced.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed announced this while presenting the 2025–26 national budget on Monday.
He presented the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, amounting to Tk7,89,999 crore, in a televised speech at 3pm.
Depending on the area, the maximum registration fee has been cut by up to 2%.
As a result, registering land worth Tk100,000 will now cost up to Tk2,000 less.
Salehuddin said that the proposed budget includes some concessions regarding land registration.
Registration fees and taxes will now be determined per shatangsha (percent of a katha) instead of per katha.
To encourage registration at the actual sale price, the capital gains tax collected at source from land transfers has been reduced by area.
The current rates of 8%, 6%, and 4% will be reduced to 6%, 4%, and 3%, respectively, based on location.
